Cynthia Mitchell, CMP, President, CEO

Cynthia Mitchell, President, joined GEP Utah in 2009, bringing more than 20 years of meeting and event planning experience. She came to Salt Lake City in 2000 from Calgary Alberta Canada, where she had her own Catering and Event Company. Cynthia has worked for and owned two destination management companies here in Salt Lake City. She has been involved with Meetings Professionals International over the years and served as Chapter President 2004-2005, as well she has served a three year term as an advisory board member for Concepts Worldwide out of San Diego. Cynthia and her husband have four grown children and reside with their two silky terriers, Sam and Bella.

Rob Walsh, Director of Sales

Rob Walsh joins the GEP Utah team as Director of Sales. With over 10 years in the hospitality and event planning industry, he brings a world of experience to the mountains. From creative concepts to impeccable program execution, Rob is committed to total customer satisfaction. His professional experience includes a strong operational resume from Maritz Travel Company and over six years of destination management experience locally. Working with groups of all sizes, he enjoys showcasing Utah and all it has to offer year round. Growing up in St. Louis MO, Rob landed in Utah after 4 years traveling the globe with clients such at Ford, UBS and Honda. His hobbies include skiing, triathlon and gardening. Rob lives in Park City with his wife Deirdra.

David Hunter, Sales Manager

David comes to GEP Utah having spent his entire career in sales and marketing, receiving his first break in the family business with responsibility over sales for the family furniture business. After moving to Utah to pursue an education, in 2005 David landed a position as an account executive with the new Major League Soccer team; Real Salt Lake. The sales team broke all league sales records for an expansion team and David was regularly Top Ten in the league for new season ticket and group ticket sales. In 2007, David took the position of Sales Director for a local accounting firm and helped oversee expansion in to two additional markets and a 100% increase in revenue. He has also been a member of Corporate Alliance since 2006. David has one daughter, is fluent in Spanish, and loves living in the beautiful state of Utah.

Michelle Cunningham, Director of Operations

Michelle has more than thirteen years of experience in corporate events and corporate event production. Her project management expertise includes project development, client liaison, budget negotiations and all aspects of on-site production. Her event expertise ranges from national product launches, corporate incentive events and international conventions. Michelle has also managed product launches, regional sales meetings, sales recognition events, and incentive trips. Her in-depth experience means she understands your specific business model and she knows your touch points. Michelle’s ability to tailor her impressive production and event management skills to match her client’s needs and goals sets her apart. Her detail oriented, everything-is possible attitude has helped create event experiences that fostered ongoing relationships with such diverse clients as Panera Bread Company, Alcon Laboratories, H & R Bloch, and Barnes Jewish Foundation.
Michelle lives in Park City, Utah with her husband and two children.

Kate Whitchurch, Director of Operations

Kate Whitchurch is GEP Utah's resident problem solver. With experience in emergency room triage with Intermountain Healthcare, as an intern event coordinator at AARP and as a program manager for one of Utah's oldest destination management companies, Kate can handle any challenge. She is a graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelors degree in Health Promotion and Education with a minor in Nutrition. She also received her graduate certificate in Gerontolgy from the University of Utah. As an avid sports enthusiast and amateur athlete, Kate loves the outdoors and spending time with her family and friends.
